| NO, HE DIDN'T Braylon Edwards didn't start the game in Miami. He didn't enter the game until the second quarter. He didn't catch a pass until the third quarter, and once he did, he didn't stop. 67 yards later he was dancing the Dougie to celebrate the third touchdown pass of the game by Mark Sanchez. In fact, it was the sixth touchdown pass of the season by Sanchez, who didn't throw his sixth last season until Week 7. (And he also didn't throw a pick for the fifth straight regular season game, a span of 114 pass attempts.) And it all nearly didn't matter, until LaDainian Tomlinson scored with less than two minutes to go. It was his first touchdown as a Jet, and it sealed the 31-23 win.

| YES. WE. DID. Former Dolphin Jason Taylor represented the Jets for the opening coin flip. The fans showered him with boos (before Rex Ryan showered him with water from the Gatorade cooler - wait, what?). Former Cavalier LeBron James now represents the Heat, so the fans at Joe Robbie Stadium Pro Player Park Pro Player Stadium Dolphin Stadium Dolphins Stadium Land Shark Stadium Sun Life Stadium showered him with love when they showed him wearing a Marlins hat on the scoreboard. In fact, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were there, too, ahead of the Heat's media day, which is today. Which is when (and why) SportsCenter is taking our talents (see: Elliott, Josh and Barry, Jon and Rose, Jalen) to South Beach to set the scene starting this morning at 9:00 am ET. At least before training camp starts tomorrow. In the Panhandle. At an Air Force installation. Nice.

| YES, HE DID Butkus. Hornung. Payton. Lombardi. Ditka. Favre. Pantazis? Yep. It turns out that of all the names that have defined the rivalry between the Packers and the Bears, the one you don't remember is the one that made (arguably) the most memorable play ever on Monday Night Football. The rivalry renews tonight at Soldier Field (8:30 ET on ESPN). Where are your seats?

| NO, THEY DIDN'T Mariano Rivera didn't close out a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth. Jonathan Papelbon didn't close out a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the ninth. So when Juan Miranda didn't swing at ball four from Hideki Okajima with the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth, the Yankees walked off on a walk and didn't lose their fifth game in a row. Instead, they closed within a half-game of the Rays atop the AL East.

| .5 | Matt Cain of the Giants took a no-hitter into the 8th inning, when Jay Payton of the Rockies took one up the middle for a single that never left the infield. Two batters later, Melvin Mora took Cain deep. 446 feet of deep - the longest tater that Cain had coughed up all season. But Colorado only managed one hit after that, and San Francisco managed to leapfrog San Diego (see: 12-2 losers at home to Cincinnati) with a 4-2 win to lead the NL West by .5 game. | 3 | In his second start at quarterback for the Eagles, Michael Vick threw 3 touchdown passes and ran for another in the 28-3 win at Jacksonville. Donovan McNabb had only 3 games like that (3 TD passes, 1 TD rush) in 142 starts for the Eagles. Randall Cunningham did it twice in 107 starts. (Ron Jaworski did it once in 137 starts.) | Congratulations to Nevada, which moved up into the AP Top 25 for the first time since 1948. Congratulations also to Michigan, which moved up to 19th from 20th yesterday, when the AP realized that an out-of-date ballot was counted in the initial tally. (Too bad for South Carolina, which dropped from 19th to 20th as a result.) Good thing we have computers who can vote for a real champion. The New and Improved AP Poll | Hanging Chad? |

| "I missed basically an extra point. It was clearly my mistake...It's the highs and lows of being a kicker." The Saints lost for the first time since January when Garrett Hartley missed a chip-shot from 29 yards out. So if the highs included kicking his team into the Super Bowl a year ago, the lows must include learning from Adam Schefter that his team has reached out to John Carney and Matt Stover as replacements. Read | Highlights | "The deal is in neutral. Denver is trying to get [Anthony] there for media day [on Monday] and beg him to stay." The Heat aren't the only ones ready to meet the media today. The Nuggets are, too. Even as trade talks regarding the other big prize of the 2003 NBA draft (see: Anthony, Carmelo) seem to have stalled. Will he report for camp? Marc Stein reports maybe not...
